What is your first swimming memory?
I took swimming lessons when we lived in Las Vegas with an instructor named James. If James wasn't there, Sophie did not swim. My dad tried bribing me with donuts to swim. I love donuts and sometimes I would say NOPE. I also remember when I was eight, I cried at my first summer league meet as a Cheshire Forest Flying Fish because I had to swim a 50 freestyle event and I did not think I could go UP and BACK the length of the pool. I had a lot of ribbons that year - but they were all participant ribbons because I was DQ'd in almost every race.
What has been your favorite moment on TIDE?
ISCA's!!! I loved ISCA's because we all became so close to each other and I feel like this was the meet we had the most energy on the pool deck and we honestly just had so much fun swimming and being together. It was so fun watching Tadder get her first OTC.
What are your plans for Fall 2021 and beyond?
I have committed to swim and study at the University of Pittsburgh. My plans are to pursue a career in physical therapy or dentistry. When I graduate, my sister and I plan to travel the world together (after I make some money). We always traveled a lot as a military family growing up and I miss it.
Love to win OR Hate to lose?
Love to win even though it doesn't happen often. Hate to lose because it gives you the drive to get better. I can't decide.
Off the pool deck - what are your favorite activities?
I love to travel and see friends from places where we have lived. I love to sleep. I love to eat. I love the beach and anything outdoors. I love to pick on my sister.
What is something unique about you that most people might not already know?
When I was born I had black curly hair.
What will you miss the most about TIDE?
What I will truly miss about Tide is seeing all my besties every day. I spend more time in a day at the pool than I do with my REAL family. The relationships I have made on Tide will be with me the rest of my life. I love having friends all over the US!! The fun we have had at practice, travel meets and fun stuff we do outside the pool have given me great memories. My friends have seen me at my worst at 4am and have been there for me on those rough days. I will truly miss Richard yelling at me at weights for being too loud with my friends and him making me sit in the corner like I am 5 years old!
